Congratulations to Conor Grennan, Pauric O’Reilly, David Bryne and Aoibhinn Darcy, who were selected onto the National Performance Squad for future development at FIG level. This is a new initiative with Gymnastics Ireland, who recently announced Michael Hughes as National Performance Coach to co-ordinate a National Performance Squad Training. The first Acrobatics National Squad training camp of 2016 took place at the weekend in the Tuam All Stars Gymnastics Club. There was a great turnout for the camp with enthusiastic coaches working together and sharing their knowledge of Acrobatics to help guide and improve the many National Squad gymnasts who attended. Our Gymnasts and coaches from Dynamo Gymnastics Club worked alongside Killeevan Gymnastics Club, Gymstars, Carlow Acrobatic Gymnastics Club and Cork Acro Gymnastics Club.
Post camp, National Performance Coach, Michael Hughes was very happy about the future of Acrobatics in Ireland… “Looking at the gymnasts and coaches here today it just shows you how important it is not only to have a National Squad but to have National Squad Camps. Based on the work ethic I have witnessed at today’s camp there is no doubt in my mind that the Acrobatics National Squad will be a strong / impenetrable unit this time next year.”
